Frogs & Snakes

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 9, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Frogs & Snakes app for iOS ("the App," "we," "us") handles information. Frogs & Snakes is a puzzle game. We built it to collect as little as possible: there are no user accounts, no ads, and no third-party advertising or analytics trackers.

The short version. We don't ask for your name, email, or any sign-up. We don't show ads or use tracking/advertising identifiers. The only data that leaves your device is (1) anonymous daily-puzzle results tied to a random ID, and (2) whatever you choose to share through Apple's Game Center and iCloud, which Apple operates under its own privacy policy.

Information We Collect

Information you provide

None. The App has no account system and does not ask you to enter a name, email address, phone number, or any other personal detail.

Gameplay and an anonymous device identifier

When you play a daily puzzle, the App creates a random identifier (a "visitor ID," e.g. anon_…) that is stored on your device. It is not your name, Apple ID, email, or device serial number, and it is not linked to your real-world identity. Using that identifier, the App sends the following to our server so daily-puzzle stats and leaderboards can work:

We do not receive your IP address as part of this data in a form we retain to identify you; like any internet service, our hosting and database providers process network requests to deliver the service (see Service Providers).

Apple Game Center

If you use Game Center features (leaderboards, achievements, and challenges), that functionality is provided by Apple. Your Game Center identity, nickname, scores, and challenges are handled by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We receive only what Game Center exposes to games (such as your Game Center player identifier and the scores/achievements you earn) and do not receive your Apple ID or email.

iCloud backup of your progress

So you don't lose progress if you delete and reinstall the App, your saved progress (including the anonymous visitor ID and puzzle history) is mirrored to your own iCloud account using Apple's iCloud key-value storage. This data lives in your iCloud account, controlled by your device's iCloud settings; we cannot browse other users' iCloud data.

What we do not collect

How We Use Information

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

How Information Is Shared

We don't sell or rent your data. Limited information is processed by the infrastructure providers that run the game:

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or security of our users or the service.

Data Retention

Anonymous puzzle results are retained to keep leaderboards and stats functioning. Because these records are tied only to a random identifier and contain no personal details, they cannot ordinarily be traced back to you by name. Progress stored in your iCloud is retained according to your iCloud settings and Apple's policies.

Security

Data sent between the App and our servers is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we handle.

Children's Privacy

Frogs & Snakes is suitable for a general audience. The App does not require personal information and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The only data the App transmits is an anonymous game identifier and gameplay results. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will address it.

Your Choices

International Users

Our providers may process and store data on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in those locations.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and post the new version at this URL. Material changes may also be noted in the App or its App Store listing.
